A single flower in an inflorescence of the Asteraceae (daisy family) which consists of a large number of small flowers massed together. There are two types of floret: ligulate and tubular.

An illustrative example: the yellow florets of the daisy 'head' are the 'tubular florets' and the radiating, white florets of the daisy 'head' are the 'ligulate florets'. Under the daisy head, and pressed against it, are the green involucral bracts.
