Description
Habit: Perennial, to 50 cm high.
Stems: Erect, with rhizomes.
Leaves: Opposite, stalked, without stipules, undivided, triangular, shallowly toothed and slightly hairy.
Flowers: White to pale pink, zygomorphic 7-10 mm across, in loose, terminal racemes; flower stalks covered with glandular hairs; calyx 2-lobed; petals 2; stamens 2; ovary inferior.
Fruits: A 1-2 seeded achene, drooping, covered with hooked bristles.
Habitat: Woods, scrub, hedges, streamsides.Distribution: Frequent on the limestone, occasional elsewhere.
