Description
Habit: Perennial, to 2 m high, forming dense thickets, rhizomatous.
Stems: Stout, erect, arching.
Leaves: Alternate, stalked, triangular, 8-10 cm long, broadly oval, pointed tip.
Flowers: White, actinomorphic, in small axillary panicles; tepals 5, free, the outer 3 keeled; stamens 8; ovary superior, 1-celled, styles 3.
Fruits: Does not set seed in Ireland.

Habitat: Roadsides, waste ground, abandoned gardens.Distribution: Occasional and locally frequent.
