Description
Habit: An erect or spreading shrub, to 1.5 m high.
Stems: Woody, erect or spreading, spreading by underground stolons.
Leaves: Alternate, evergreen, hairless, spine-tipped, untoothed or slightly toothed, 8-20 mm long.
Flowers: White, drooping, 2-5 mm across, 1-few in axillary clusters or racemes; corolla fused, 5 lobed, urn-shaped 5-6 mm long; stamens 10; ovary superior.
Fruits: A berry, white, pink or purple, 10 mm across.
Habitat: Woods or moorland.
Distribution: Rare.
