Description
Habit: A slightly hairy perennial, to 70 cm high.
Stems: Erect.
Leaves: Alternate, stalked, with broad, leafy, lobed or toothed stipules 1-3 cm long; irregularly pinnate, terminal leaflet oval.
Flowers: Yellow, actinomorphic, hermaphrodite, erect and open, solitary or in cymes; calyx 5-toothed, with 5 bracts alternating with sepals; petals 5, free, 4-7 mm long; stamens numerous; carpels numerous, not sunk in calyx-tube.
Fruits: An achene, with a long, stiff and hooked style.
Habitat: Woods, scrub, hedges, other shady areas.Distribution: Widespread and locally frequent.
