Description
Habit: A hairless perennial, to 30 cm high.
Stems: Fleshy, decumbent, with numerous leafy stems.
Leaves: Opposite, without stipules, short-stalked, oval-oblong, 6-10 mm long.
Flowers: Whitish to pale pink, actinomorphic, hermaphrodite, stalkless and solitary in leaf-axils, 4-7 mm across; calyx 5-lobed, 3-5 mm; corolla absent; stamens 5; ovary superior, 1-celled, with many ovules.
Fruits: A capsule.

Habitat: Salt-marshes, sometimes on wet, rocky or shingly places near the sea. Distribution: Abundant to local.
