Description
Habit: A hairless perennial, to 20 cm long.
Stems: Trailing to semi-erect, stems numerous, branched.
Leaves: Opposite, entire, stalkless, without stipules, 10-15 mm long, oblong, with numerous translucent glands and few black glands near the leaf margin.
Flowers: Yellow, actinomorphic, hermaphrodite, 8-12 mm across, in small leafy cymes; sepals 5, free; stamens in 3 (rarely 5) bundles; petals 5, free, with marginal black glands; styles 3; ovary superior.
Fruits: A capsule, succulent and berry-like, seeds numerous.
Habitat: Roadsides, banks, dry grassland and stony ground.
Distribution: Occasional to frequent on acid soils, probably absent from limestone.
