Description
Habit: Perennial, to 1.8 m high.
Stems: Erect, stout and scarcely branched.
Leaves: Alternate, undivided, up to 50cm long, toothed, softly hairy on the lowerside; lower leaves oblong and stalked, the upper oval and clasping the stem.
Flowers: Yellow, flower-heads solitary, 50-70mm across; involucral bracts numerous, overlapping and in several rows; outer florets ligulate and radiating, inner florets tubular.
Fruits: A hairless achene, pappus of unbranched hairs.
Habitat: Field margins and roadsides.
Distribution: Occasional.
