Description
Habit: A hairy perennial, to 50 cm high.
Stems: Erect, square, rhizomatous and creeping at the base.
Leaves: Opposite, undivided, stalked, oval, pointed, strongly toothed.
Flowers: White, zygomorphic, hermaphrodite, 20-25 mm long, in dense axillary whorl-like clusters; calyx tubular, of five fused slender sepals, 5-toothed; corolla tubular, of 5 fused petals, 2-lipped; stamens 4, attached to the corolla, usually in two pairs, one longer than the other; ovary superior.
Fruits: A group of 4 1-seeded nutlets, flattened at the top.
Habitat: Roadsides and waste ground.Distribution: Very local.
