Description
Habit: A semi-deciduous, bushy woody shrub, to 3 m high.
Leaves: Opposite, undivided, 2-4 cm long, broadly lanceolate, hairless.
Flowers: White, actinomorphic, very scented, 5-6 mm across, in dense pyramidical panicles; calyx small and falling early; petals 4, fused into 4-lobed tube; stamens 2, attached to the corolla tube; ovary superior, style single, stigmas 2.
Fruits: A black berry, 1-2-seeded.
Twigs: Thin and grey-brown; young shoots densely hairy.
Bark: Smooth and grey-brown.
Habitat: Sea-cliffs, wood-margins and scrub.Distribution: Rare.
