Description
Habit: Perennial, flowering stems and leaf stalks to 30 cm high.
Stems: Flowering stems erect, with scale-like leaves.
Leaves: Leaves large, cordate, basal, nearly round, regularly toothed; green and hairless above, downy and greyish beneath.
Flowers: Appearing at the same time as the leaves; flower-heads in a short and rather loose raceme; involucral bracts linear; florets pinkish-mauve and very sweet smelling; the outer very shortly ligulate, the inner tubular.
Fruits: An achene, pappus white and silky, of unbranched hairs.
Habitat: Woods and shady banks.
Distribution: Occasional and locally frequent.
