Description
Habit: An aquatic, annual or perennial.
Stems: Subaquatic or floating.
Leaves: Subaquatic or floating, spirally appearing alternately arranged, without stipules, all leaves divided with hair-like segments; the leaf segments short, spreading, rigid even when out of water, appearing bushy.
Flowers: White, actinomorphic, hermaphrodite, 8-10 mm across; sepals 5, spreading and free; the petals free, separate from each other, with crescent-shaped nectaries; stamens numerous, indefinite and free; ovary superior.
Fruits: A cluster of achenes, young ones hairy.

Habitat: Shallow water and wet mud.Distribution: Occasional to frequent on the limestone, rare elsewhere.
