Description
Habit: A hairy and aromatic perennial, to 70 cm high.
Stems: Erect, square.
Leaves: Opposite, 5-10 cm long, wrinkled, oval to oblong, irregularly toothed or lobed; lower leaves stalked, upper stalkless.
Flowers: Blueish-purple, zygomorphic, 10-12 mm, in axillary whorl-like clusters of 6 flowers, forming a long and loose terminal spike; calyx tubular, of five fused sepals, 2-lipped, upper lip entire, lower lip 2-toothed; corolla tubular, of 5 fused petals, 2-lipped, upper lip hooded, lower spreading and 3-lobed; stamens 2; ovary superior.
Fruits: A group of 4 1-seeded nutlets.

Habitat: Sandy fields on the Aran Islands.Distribution: Very rare.
