Description
Habit: Perennial, to 1.8 m high.
Stems: Thick, erect, pithy stems, with rhizomes.
Leaves: Opposite, pinnate, with a terminal leaflet; 7-11 lanceolate, sharply toothed leaflets, each 6-11 cm long; stipules conspicuous, oval to narrowly oval.
Flowers: Creamy white, often tinged pink, actinomorphic, numerous in dense cymes; corolla 5 mm, with a very short tube and 5 spreading lobes; style absent; stamens 5; ovary inferior.
Fruits: A black drupe with 3-5 seeds.

Habitat: Roadsides, pastures.
Distribution: Occasional but often abundant where it occurs.
