Description
Habit: Perennial.
Stems: Erect, hollow, hairless.
Leaves: All basal, usually deeply lobed (nearly pinnate).
Flowers: Yellow, flower-heads solitary, less than 3 cm across on peduncles, florets all ligulate; involucral bracts consisting of an inner row of long equal bracts and numerous shorter outer ones, without membranous edge, with a small protuberance on the outer side, near the tip.
Fruits: A reddish achene, bearing, at the end of a long beak, a white pappus of unbranched hairs.

Habitat: Dry places.
Distribution: Occasional to frequent.
