Description
Habit: A hairless perennial, 30-80 cm high.
Stems: Erect, rigid.
Leaves: Alternate, stalkless, linear-oblong, 4-7 cm long, toothed.
Flowers: Flower-heads small, 12-15mm across, numerous in corymbs; involucral bracts with a dark margin, overlapping in several rows; outer florets radiating, white, 4-5 mm long; inner florets tubular and white or greenish.
Fruits: An achene; pappus absent.

Habitat: Marshes, lake shores, turloughs and damp meadows. Rarely on sand dunes.
Distribution: Frequent but local, commonest on the limestone or near coast.
