Description
Habit: Perennial, to 70 cm high.
Stems: Erect, diffusely branched, hairy with long and short eglandular hairs and short glandular hairs.
Leaves: Alternate, with leafy stipules, pinnate with 3-6 pairs of toothed leaflets; shining glands on lowerside and greyish colour.
Flowers: Yellow, actinomorphic, hermaphrodite, 5-7 mm across, in long spikes; calyx of 5 fused sepals, with a deep tube and 5 teeth; petals 5, free; stamens 7-20.
Fruits: 1-2 achenes, enclosed in the persistent calyx-tube; with hooked bristles at the mouth pointing upwards.
Habitat: Roadsides and rough grazing areas.Distribution: Frequent on the limestone, rare elsewhere.
