Description
Habit: Perennial, to 70 cm high.
Stems: Erect, diffusely branched, leaf, hairy with long eglandular and short glandular hairs only.
Leaves: Alternate, with leafy stipules, pinnate with 3-6 pairs of deeply toothed leaflets; lowerside greyish in colour and with shining glands.
Flowers: Yellow, actinomorphic, hermaphrodite, 5-7 mm across, in long spikes; calyx of 5 fused sepals, with a deep tube and 5 teeth; petals 5, free; stamens 7-20.
Fruits: 1-2 achenes, enclosed in the persistent and bell-shaped calyx-tube, with hooked bristles at the mouth pointing upwards and downwards.

Habitat: Roadsides and rough grazing areas.Distribution: Frequent on the limestone, rare elsewhere.
