Description
Habit: Perennial, 50-120 cm high.
Stems: Woody at the base, reddish, hollow.
Leaves: Alternate, oval, pinnate with deeply toothed or lobed segments; upper surface green and hairless, white underneath.
Flowers: Flower-heads small, ovoid, 2-3mm across, in terminal, leafy, racemes or panicles; involucral bracts cottony with a green midrib; florets 20 or less, all tubular, yellow tinged with red; outer florets female, inner hermaphrodite.
Fruits: An achene, pappus absent.

Habitat: Waste ground and roadsides.
Distribution: Rather rare.
