Description
Habit: A deciduous shrub, to 2.5 m high.
Stems: Woody, armed with slender, very sharp spines arranged in groups of 3 and bearing short shoots in their axils.
Leaves: Alternate, deciduous, 2-3 cm long, simple, oval to oblong, finely toothed.
Flowers: Yellow, hermaphrodite, 3-7 mm across, in drooping racemes; perianth segments about 15, petal-like; ovary superior.
Fruits: Red, oblong berry.

Habitat: Limestone pavement.
Distribution: Very rare.

Native status: Not native; naturalised
