Habit: A hairless, bushy annual, to 40 cm high.
Stems: Erect, spreading.
Leaves: Alternate, few, hairless, fleshy, oblong and pinnately lobed.
Flowers: White or pale mauve, actinomorphic, hermaphrodite, 12-15 mm across, in racemes; sepals 4, free; petals 4, free; stamens 6; ovary superior.
Fruits: A silique, 15-25 mm long, indehiscent, spindle-shaped; fruit breaking lengthwise when ripe into 2 portions with 1 seed each; lower portion smaller and sometimes sterile.
Habitat: Sandy shores.
