Description
Habit: Perennial, to 20 cm high.
Stems: Slender, creeping, with sparse and minute hairs.
Leaves: Opposite, without stipules, 4-6 mm across, undivided, round, slightly toothed.
Flowers: White or pale pink, actinomorphic, solitary and erect on short stalks; calyx 4-lobed; petals 4, often notched; stamens 8; stigma not 4-lobed, ovary inferior, very long and narrow.
Fruits: A 4-celled linear capsule, seeds small, each with a tuft of cotton-like hairs.

Habitat: Damp rocks, screes, roadsides, banks and quarries.Distribution: Frequent.
