Description
Habit: Perennial, to 1 m high.
Stems: Erect, hairy.
Leaves: Alternate, stalked, with leafy stipules, pinnate with 2-5 pairs of main leaflets with smaller ones inbetween; white underside, toothed.
Flowers: Creamy white, actinomorphic, hermaphrodite, 5 mm across, in terminal panicles; calyx with 5 teeth; petals 5, free; stamens numerous; with hypanthium flat to saucer-shaped.
Fruits: A head of achenes, twisted together, each with 1-2 seeds.
Habitat: Marshes, lake-shores, riverbanks, ditches, meadows, pastures.Distribution: Abundant throughout.
