Description
Habit: A hairless annual or biennial, to 20 cm high.
Stems: Erect.
Leaves: Undivided, entire, stalkless and oval-lanceolate.
Flowers: Bluish-purple, actinomorphic, hermaphrodite, about 10-15 mm across; calyx a tube with 4 unequal lobes, two much larger and overlapping the others; corolla a tube with 4 lobes, with short hairs at the throat; stamens attached to the corolla and alternate with the corolla lobes; ovary superior.
Fruits: A capsule, cylindrical and narrow, with small seeds.

Habitat: Heathy pastures.Distribution: Frequent near the sea in Galway, occasional elsewhere.
