Description
Habit: Erect, hairless annual, to 1.5 m high.
Stems: Stout, reddish with sap.
Leaves: Opposite or in whorls of 3, oval to lanceolate, stalked, toothed.
Flowers: Pink, zygomorphic, hermaphrodite, 2.5-3 cm across, in axillary racemes; sepals 3, petal-like, lowest pouch-like with a spur; petals 3, free; stamens 5; ovary superior.
Fruits: Club-shaped, soft-walled capsule, exploding at touch when ripe.

Habitat: Roadsides, waste ground.
Distribution: Rare.
