Habit: Perennial, 10-20 cm high.
Stems: Stems unbranched, hairy.
Leaves: All basal, with stiff forked hairs; linear-oblong, pinnatifid with short, blunt and triangular lobes.
Flowers: Yellow, flower-heads solitary, 25-35 mm across; florets all ligulate.
Fruits: An achene, scarcely beaked, pappus of dirty white hairs.
Habitat: Dry grassland, rocky ground on limestone.
