Habit: A small hairless annual.
Stems: Weak, rooting at nodes, with thin stolons.
Leaves: Basal, undivided, 6-10 cm long, without stipules, long-stalked, oval to broadly linear and slightly expanded at the tips.
Flowers: White, zygomorphic, hermaphrodite, 2.5-3 mm across, axillary, solitary; calyx of 4-5 sepals fused, with 4-5 lobes; corolla of 4-5 petals fused, 4-5 lobed, sometimes 2-lipped, shorter than calyx; stamens 4, borne on corolla tube; ovary superior, 2-celled, style 1.
Fruits: A capsule.
Habitat: Small pools, turloughs, lake-margins.Distribution: Rare.
