Leaves: Alternate, stalked, with small stipules, with 5 very shallow rounded lobes.
Flowers: Pink-purple, actinomorphic, numerous in axillary clusters; epicalyx with 3 free bracts; sepals 5, united at the base; petals 5, free, 15 mm long; stamens numerous; ovary superior.
Fruits: A capsule.
Habitat: Roadsides, waste ground, by ruins and the sea.Distribution: Rather rare.
