Description
Habit: An aromatic perennial with a spearmint scent, to 90 cm high.
Stems: Erect, square, with rhizomes, branched.
Leaves: Opposite, stalkless, hairy to sparsely hairy undivided, lanceolate, toothed, pointed.
Flowers: White to pink or lilac, nearly actinomorphic, in axillary whorl-like clusters forming a spike-like head; calyx tubular, 5-toothed, bell-shaped, teeth narrowly triangular; corolla tubular, bell-shaped with 4 short lobes, of which one is broader and notched; stamens 4, attached to the corolla, equal in length; ovary superior.
Fruits: A group of 4 1-seeded nutlets.
Habitat: Roadsides.Distribution: Rare.
