Habit: A slightly hairy annual, to 40 cm high.
Stems: Slender, diffusely branched stems.
Leaves: Opposite, entire, oval, 12-20 mm, pointed, with unbranched 3-5 veins; upper leaves stalked.
Flowers: White, actinomorphic, in cymes; sepals 5, lanceolate, pointed with membranous margins; petals 5, 2-3 mm long, oblong, shorter than sepals; stamens 10; styles 3; ovary superior.
Fruits: A capsule.
Habitat: Woods.
