Description
Habit: Perennial, to 20 cm high.
Stems: Erect.
Leaves: Basal, stalked with 3 leaflets, leaflets heart-shaped.
Flowers: White with light purple veins, actinomorphic, 15-20 mm across, solitary; sepals and petals 5, free; stamens 10; ovary 5-celled and superior.
Fruits: A capsule.

Habitat: Woods, scrub, limestone pavement, heathy ground among bracken, mountain cliffs, streamsides and other sandy areas.Distribution: Very frequent over most of the region but rare in very exposed sites.
