Description
Habit: A small deciduous shrub, to 1 m high.
Stems: Erect or spreading, woody.
Leaves: Alternate, with a stalk, with leafy stipules, pinnate with 5-7 lanceolate leaflets; leaflets untoothed and lanceolate.
Flowers: Yellow, actinomorphic, 2-3 cm across, solitary or in cymes; calyx of 5 sepals, fused, calyx-tube short; petals 5, free; stamens numerous; carpels numerous, ovary superior; with hypanthium flat- or saucer-shaped.
Fruits: A head of hairy achenes on a non-swollen convex receptacle.
Bark: Brown and peeling.

Habitat: Rocky and grassy ground subject to occasional flooding.Distribution: Very local.
