Description
Habit: Perennial.
Stems: Decumbent and rooting at nodes, to 1 m long.
Leaves: Both in a persistent basal rosette and alternate along the stem; with leafy stipules which are undivided or slightly lobed, stem leaves palmately divided with 5 toothed leaflets.
Flowers: Yellow, actinomorphic, hermaphrodite, axillary, 2-2.5 cm across; calyx of 5 sepals, fused, calyx-tube short; petals 5, free; stamens numerous; carpels numerous; ovary superior; with hypanthium flat- or saucer-shaped.
Fruits: A head of achenes on a non-swollen convex receptacle.

Habitat: Roadsides, limestone pavement, pastures, mountain rocks.Distribution: Frequent on the lowland limestone, especially around Galway Bay, rare elsewhere.
