Description
Habit: Perennial, to 30 cm high.
Stems: Erect, with rhizome.
Leaves: Alternate, stalked, broadly oval, untoothed to slightly toothed, obtuse.
Flowers: White or pink tinged, in a terminal raceme, facing in all directions; sepals 5; petals 5, incurved, producing a globular flower; stamens 10; style 4-7 mm, ovary superior.
Fruits: A capsule, seeds minute with a loose coat forming 2 membranous wings.
Habitat: Peaty areas on limestone pavement on the hills.
