Description
Habit: A hairless perennial, to 25 cm high.
Stems: Erect, with tuberous roots.
Leaves: Mostly basal, usually without stipules, with long stalks, undivided and untoothed, heart-shaped or round.
Flowers: Actinomorphic, hermaphrodite, 1.5-3 cm across; sepals 3-4, free, yellowish green, falling early; petals 8-10, yellow, narrow; stamens numerous, indefinite and free; ovary superior.
Fruits: A cluster of achenes, slightly hairy, 2-5 mm, with very small beak.
Habitat: Damp or shady places, also on damp pastures or near the coast.Distribution: Frequent throughout, locally abundant.
