Description
Habit: A hairless perennial, to 50 cm high.
Stems: Erect or semi-erect, sometimes lower stem creeping and rooting.
Leaves: Spirally arranged, usually without stipules, undivided, lanceolate, untoothed or very slightly toothed; lower leaves stalked and upper leaves stalkless.
Flowers: Yellow, actinomorphic, hermaphrodite, 1-2 cm across, solitary or in few-flowered heads; sepals 5, greenish yellow, free; petals 5; stamens numerous, indefinite and free; ovary superior.
Fruits: A cluster of achenes, hairless, 1-2 mm.
Habitat: Marshes, drains, lake-shores, other wet places.Distribution: Abundant.
