Description
Habit: An aquatic, annual or perennial.
Stems: Trailing and floating, to 25 cm long.
Leaves: Spirally appearing alternately arranged or basal, without stipules and with long stalk; flat, divided less than halfway into 3-5 lobes; hair-like leaves absent.
Flowers: White, actinomorphic, hermaphrodite, 4-7 mm across; sepals 5, free, not bent backwards; petals 5, with crescent-shaped nectaries; stamens numerous, indefinite and free; ovary superior.
Fruits: A cluster of achenes, young ones hairless.
Habitat: Ditches, marshes, streamsides, small pools.Distribution: Frequent to occasional.
