Description
Habit: A hairless perennial, to 1.2 m high.
Stems: Erect, spreading with stolons.
Leaves: Spirally appearing alternately arranged, stalkless, usually without stipules, undivided, lanceolate, very slightly toothed.
Flowers: Yellow, actinomorphic, hermaphrodite, 2.5-4 cm across, solitary or in few-flowered heads; sepals 5, greenish yellow, free; petals 5, yellow; stamens numerous, indefinite and free; ovary superior.
Fruits: A cluster of achenes, hairless, 2.5 mm.

Habitat: Marshes, fens, streamsides.Distribution: Local and rather rare.
