Description
Habit: Perennial, to 40 cm high.
Stems: Erect, slender, unbranched, with very weak prickles.
Leaves: Alternate, with small and narrow stipules; sometimes undivided and lobed, more often often ternate, leaflets oval.
Flowers: White, actinomorphic, hermaphrodite, 8 mm across, 2-3 in small terminal corymbs; calyx 5-toothed, calyx tube very shallow; petals 5, free, upright, narrow; stamens numerous; carpels numerous, on a conical receptacle; with hypanthium.
Fruits: A head of 1-6, 1-seeded drupes, red and shiny.

Habitat: Limestone pavement, rocky ground, stony scrub, hedges.Distribution: Frequent on the limestone pavement, occasional elsewhere.
