Description
Habit: A hairless perennial, to 50 cm high.
Stems: Erect, slender.
Leaves: Alternate, stalked, with leafy and toothed stipules, pinnate, leaflets toothed and 10 mm long.
Flowers: Pale red at the top and green lower down, 6-15 mm, actinomorphic, small and numerous in rounded terminal heads, unisexual but both present in the inflorescence; calyx with rounded tube and 4 spreading lobes; petals absent; stamens 1-2, attached to the top of the ovary or rim of calyx-tube; with hypanthium.
Fruits: A ridged or winged achene.
Habitat: Limestone pavement, pastures, roadsides.Distribution: Locally frequent.
