Habit: A semi-erect to erect perennial, to 50 cm high.
Stems: Woody, sometimes only below; branched, spreading.
Leaves: 2-pinnate with narrow, linear segments, white all over with cottony hairs.
Flowers: Flower-heads small and ovoid, 1-2mm across, in terminal, somewhat leafy racemes or panicles; involucral bracts brownish or chaffy at the top; florets few, tubular, yellow or red, all hermaphrodite.
Fruits: An achene, pappus absent.

Habitat: Sea shores.
