Habit: An erect perennial, 15-60 cm high.
Leaves: Alternate, oblong lanceolate and slightly toothed.
Flowers: Yellow, flower heads 6-10 mm across, numerous, in an oblong, terminal panicle; involucral bracts in many rows; inner florets tubular, outer ligulate and radiating.
Fruits: An achene, pappus of unbranched hairs.

Habitat: Limestone pavement, rocky ground, lake shores, walls and heathy grassland.
Distribution: Frequent but local.
