Description
Habit: Annual, to 35 cm high.
Stems: Glandular-hairy, densely tufted stems with a slender taproot.
Leaves: Opposite, 25 mm, simple, fleshy, linear, with membranous stipules.
Flowers: Lilac-pink in outer part, white at base; actinomorphic; 6-8 mm across; in terminal cymes; sepals 5; petals 5, slightly shorter than sepals; stamens 7 or fewer; styles 3, ovary superior.
Fruits: A capsule, 3-6 mm, seeds 0.6-0.8 mm, usually wingless.

Habitat: Salt-marshes, rarely rocks or stony shores.
Distribution: Occasional.
