Description
Habit: Perennial.
Stems: Erect, hollow, hairless.
Leaves: All basal, moderately lobed; leaf shape with distinctive convex front and concave rear edges; midrib with purple /red and green strands; leaves more or less unspotted (sometimes with spots between the lobes).
Flowers: Yellow, flower-heads solitary on peduncles, florets all ligulate; involucral bracts consisting of an inner row of long equal bracts and numerous shorter outer ones, the outer ones curved backwards, without membranous edge, without a small protuberance.
Fruits: An achene, bearing, at the end of a long beak, a white pappus of unbranched hairs.
Habitat: Roadsides, grassland.
