Description
Habit: Perennial, to 50 cm high.
Stems: Erect to spreading, square, hairy.
Leaves: Opposite, stalkless, undivided, oblong, bluntly toothed, 2-3 cm long.
Flowers: Pinkish-purple, zygomorphic, 12 mm long, in 1-sided axillary whorl-like clusters of about 4 flowers, forming a loose terminal spike; calyx tubular, of five fused sepals, 5-toothed, teeth narrow and equal; corolla tubular, of 5 fused petals, corolla tube short and without upper lip and with a large 5-lobed lower lip, short; stamens 4; ovary superior.
Fruits: A group of 4 1-seeded nutlets, rough.

Habitat: Turloughs.Distribution: Very local.
