Description
Habit: Perennial or annual marsh plants with rhizomes, erect, flowering stems up to 60cm (-70cm).
Leaves: Usually deeply furrowed on upperside near base; up to 2mm wide, semi-terete. Very similar to T. maritima but with smaller, less fleshy leaves.
Flowers: Spike more lax than that of T. maritima. Flowers 2-3mm across; stamens 6.
Fruits: Fruits 7-10mm, of 3 carpels, pressed closely against the stem; seeds with or without endosperm.
Habitat: Marshes and wet pastures.
Distribution: Very frequent.
