Description
Habit: A hairless or slightly hairy annual, to 30 cm high.
Stems: Spreading and erect, repeatedly branched.
Leaves: Opposite, undivided, slightly pale bluish, without stipules, oval to weakly spoon-shaped, entire or weakly toothed, upper leaves stalkless.
Flowers: Pale blue, actinomorphic, hermaphrodite, small and numerous in terminal or axillary cymes; sepals united, calyx teeth minute or forming a ring in flower, sometime absent; petals united, with a long tube and 5 lobes; stamens 1 or 3, attached to the corolla; ovary inferior, 1-celled, style solitary.
Fruits: A 1-seeded nut.

Habitat: Walls, roadsides, stabilised dunes, semi-open grassland. Distribution: Occasional to rare.
