Description
Habit: A hairy perennial.
Stems: Semi-erect to trailing, rooting, to 40 cm long.
Leaves: Opposite, undivided, without stipules, oval, bluntly toothed, short-stalked.
Flowers: Lilac, nearly actinomorphic, hermaphrodite, 6-8 mm across, short and dense erect axillary racemes; calyx deeply 4-lobed; corolla slightly irregularly 4-lobed, with a very short tube; stamens 2, borne on corolla tube; ovary superior, 2-celled, style 1.
Fruits: A capsule, 2-lobed, flat, as broad as long.

Habitat: Roadsides, heathy grassland, limestone pavement.Distribution: Very frequent to abundant throughout, absent from Inishbofin.
